Improve your effectiveness and sense of mastery. Consultation can be especially helpful if there has been a recent traumatizing situation that caused a crisis of confidence. Such feelings can occur after loss, professional challenges, illness, transitions, or by working in a confrontive or challenging context.
Using concepts from contemporary relational theories, and other existential and humanistic theories, I offer you insight-based, collaborative, and supportive mentoring on content or process issues such as:
- The therapeutic relationship : ambiguities, avoidance, dependence, impasses, transference, outside interactions, conjunctions, limit-setting, etc.
- Identifying patient/client’s emergent themes and raising them into awareness : the 'real' or an interpretation?... perceptions, memory, the uncertainty of experience, vulnerabilities, the intersubjective field, etc.
- Understanding the significance of context and phenomenology : the why, when, what of enactments, symptoms, impasses, and how we understand their role, mutual influence, etc.
- Working with dreams and other concretizations : understanding the dream/concretization, dyadic process, presentation, communication, understanding connection between phenomenology and context, etc.
- Growing edge challenges : conditions of working, conflict, boundaries, non-verbals, challenging requests, etc.
- Issues that arise repetitively in your work: use as a selfobject, being bullied, difficulty with time management, becoming emotionally wounded and retaliatory, excessive preoccupation, self-care, anxieties, etc.
- Difficult moments in session : chronic lateness, silences, resistances, requests for instant fixes, dismissal, demeaning, reactivity, etc.
- Finding the words to bring up something you need addressed : your vacation, unpaid fees, change of schedule, substance use, gifts, etc.
- Explore how you would like to change as a therapist : hiddenness/openness, responsiveness, ways of being with painful emotions, etc.
- Your language and style as a therapist : “isolated mind” to relational and systems thinking, 'recovery' and other behavioral approaches to psychodynamic, bringing in new skills, etc.
- Talking about the transference and working with defensive (protective) process : s eeing, understanding, and addressing transferences, types of transferences, owning the attribution, dealing with love or hate, etc.
Also: Attachment theory, Complex-systems theory, dream interpretation, use of self-disclosure, affect attunement, humor, quality of presence, compassion, empathic resonance, co-transference, the relationship, and many other topics.
My goal is to help you become effective and confident in this, the "Impossible Profession!"
