Dream Analysis Consultations

Delightfully inventive, dreams are our own myths, directly from our unique psyche (or personal unconsciousness), without interference from conscious elaborations, or censoring.  Dreams are also of practical use for understanding ourselves, and those we help, in a multitude of ways – as communication about relationships including the transference, dissociated material, themes – repetitive and developmental, the impact of contexts, and of course our emotional life.  I can teach you to think about content and process, follow themes and understand symbols and their meanings for the patient and dyad.

For Therapists :  As-needed consultations are offered that teach you how to improve your skills with dreams, and/or provide supervision for your work with private practice clients.  Dreams are especially useful when there is an impasse and can significantly help in getting the work get ‘unstuck.’

Dream Groups : These can be supervision style, didactic, or be oriented toward personal growth – dream work using group process.  Upon request.

Teaching : I teach classes on the theory and use of dreams at The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles (ICP/LA) and other programs.

Presentations : I have presented on dreams at conferences, clinics, psychoanalytic psychology extension programs, and CEU programs.

Publication : “Postcards from the Couch: Dreams as Communication during an Impasse” published in Psychoanalytic Inquiry, Vol 35, #3, April 2015. http://www.tandfonline.com/epr...

Modalities : My own style is influenced by the following - contemporary relational psychoanalytic (Stolorow, Atwood, and also Fosshage, Bromberg) and Jungian (Jung, Hillman, et al), I also use Gestalt (Perls, Faraday) and Ullman Group modality.  Trained at the C. G. Jung Institute, Pacifica Graduate Institute, and private groups.
